Proposal
Proposal Summary:
I am proposing to create an educational documentary to spread awareness about the current state of immigration. Mainly, recent injustices that have arisen from the immigration reform. The film would touch on how this is affecting the immigration process and how it's affecting already residing immigrants in the U.S.

Audience (Who do I want to impact? Who are the decision makers?):
I would target mainly U.S citizens, both native and foreign. I would also like this to reach other countries in the world. I would like to partner up with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) which is a non-profit organization dedicated to defending every individual's rights and liberties. I would also like to partner with Define American, an organization designed to shift the conversation of immigration. I would approval of partnership from both organizations, but the decision-maker for my proposal(or who I am pitching this idea to) would be the team over at Atlas Films, a film production company focused on creating films to educate, entertain, and inspire change. |
Artist Statement/ Why should my proposal be accepted?:
Immigration is one of the most heated topics filling our society today. There are many talks about laws changing, getting stricter, building walls, and mass deportation. It's hard to be an immigrant during this time. There are many sides and opinions on this issue. I feel like people, both young and old need to know what's going on and how they can contribute to promote or help make change happen. This documentary titled “The Reform” would bring to life, the struggles that undocumented, and documented immigrants go through. It would educate our society on the current state of this issue and encourage viewers to stay educated and help change our communities to be more trusting. There is a dilemma that we face, should we discriminate some foreign civilians on the account that there could be a possible threat based on our history with terrorism? The documentary would address both sides of the immigration issue in hopes that bias remains absent, and potential change remains present. What do I mean by this? Try to pitch an idea to keep America secure while also making the immigration process fair for anyone. If there is no clear idea during the planning or making of this documentary then we bring investigative journalism into the mix. Outlining the pros and cons of our current system, talking about the past, and inching our way closer to finally coming to an answer. |
