Two of my strength I’ve found while working in a group are Creative Thinking, and Leadership. Create thinking to me is finding new ways to go about your project, going above and beyond, and just coming up with new ideas as you go along and have fun doing it. Leadership to me is keeping the group on task and being responsible for your group and taking care of the expectation, and just really leading your group to success. While working Ive found myself to have lots of creative thinking. An example of this is when I'm coming up with an idea for a project. When i first start I'm all over the place with ideas and how to go about those ideas. And in a group creative thinking is a big help because you always want new ideas and things to help you out in your group. An example of leadership is when i was in a big group with 8th graders and 7th graders last year, we were really behind and we had to grind to complete two major things for this project. I took the leadership role and got our group back on task and we ended up finishing our project in time. It really goes to show that leadership helps get work done, and I feel like I take that role a lot.
Two of my challenges however are Effective communication and Adaptability. Effective communication is like communicating with your group effectively. You continue to communicate with your group, ask them how they're doing and keeping yourself in the loop. Adaptability to me is like adapting to new concepts you come across in your group, and really sticking with these cool ideas throughout the rest of the project. I have had trouble in these areas in the past. An example of when I had a hard time communicating effectively in a group is when I was in 7th grade. We were in a group of about five people and we had to dissect a pig and make a video explaining on how to dissect a pig. This is when I had trouble ina group. We never agreed with our ideas and we never communicated in a way that would keep us in the loop. We were all over the place and we had to rush the last minute to get our video finished. Adaptability has always been a problem of mine. I have never stuck with my original idea. I've always tried something different even though I was lacking behind or struggling to work. I've never really stuck with my original idea and just build off it. I really hope to get better at these two and I really feel like i'll be able to do it!

With this project I wish to see groups working hard to get tasks done. I want there to be no interruptions and no distractions when I'm working, and I want to see everyone get along. I also want the final product of this exhibition to be a spectacular event and to mind blow the community members. I feel like if we can do all these things and collaborate with our groups, this exhibition with be professional, fun, and one to remember. Not to mention it will be like no other exhibition out there by project based schools.
I would like to hear a parent say “You knocked it out of the park!”, or “Very interesting and Fun”. I want the parents to be amazed and give many good comments to us. It would make us feel better about our work. Their reactions will reflect on how well we work. The first thing they say should determine whether they appreciated our exhibition or not. I almost guarantee that if we all work hard, the parents will love it. As for the sociology professors. I want them to be informed. I want them to come to this exhibition and have fun while learning and reading what us 9th graders have taken from this project and how much we've learned on this subject. If so it would be amazing if we actually thought the professors something new, I doubt that we will because they know so much. But you never now, with the knowledge that we've taken away and will remember might shine a spark in their brains! We can be sure that we're presenting accurate info by for one, of course checking our information and making sure nothing is missed out or nothing fits. Info also needs to have a reference and checking these references and determine whether we are giving accurate into to these community members. We of course don't want to boggle their minds with false information. We can also give evidence, for example; pictures or scenarios to make sure and prove that we know what this means and we know how it works. Evidence and checking references are the main way I feel we can make sure we give accurate info. We have been designing and brainstorming perfect ideas for our exhibition. We have noted things that have not gone well in an exhibition before, or what can be improved in an exhibition. We have taken that info that we’ve jotted down and come up with original, fun, and interactive exhibition ideas. We split up into groups based on what we think the exhibition should look like and created prototypes explaining the concepts of our idea. After 3 days of hard work, grinding, we’ve voted and come up with our exhibition idea. We are create a maze for the audience to walk through. Based on who they are and how they have been socialized determines how they get through the maze. Well have more info as this project progresses.
Were trying to address the problem of people upholding the Status-Quo without realizing that there is another option. The three jobs I would want to do for this exhibition are; Project Manager, Performance, and Videography. For Project Manager Im interested because I feel like I would be a good leader. In the past I have been a leader and helped my group get though and accomplish what we have to accomplish. Im up to the task of being project manager and I think it will be a great opportunity. For Performance, I have always had a way to entertain and be really expressive and Performance will defiantly be the place where that will happen. Video and editing has always been a hobby for me and videography will put me in a place Im comfortable. I am willing to go forth will any of these, Project manager will be a great opportunity and being a leader is what Im really good at. Over the last two week my group and I came up with a similar idea to the one that was chosen. We have really worked well together to complete the specific and clean prototype. The funny thing is I was working with friends of mine and seeing that we completed and worked really well together, shows me that I could work with anyone even my friends. |
